Blogging is really a set of technologies and cultural practices that don’t necessarily tie in with each other.

Examples:

- Game On

- The Age ‘blogs’

- Roger Ebert

- Alex Ross

- Brendan Keogh

Components of a typical blog.

Partly, for CTA purposes, it’s about defining a creative identity and presence.

Social media in conjunction with a blog.

Different blogging platforms:

- WordPress

- Posterous

- Blogger

- Tumblr

How do people engage with blogs?

I’ve been asked by quite a few people recently for some entry points for reading in videogame studies. I therefore thought that some sort of guide would be helpful. Feel free to leave suggestions for additions, subtractions, etc on this post and I’ll endeavour to update this thing fairly regularly.

This is not an attempt at a canon, nor is it a recommendation of the quality of any entries in the list. It is also not meant to be exhaustive in any way – in fact, it is intentionally limited to just a handful of key texts. It is simply a rough survey of entry points into the literature of videogame studies.
